This Clip Of The Joker Pretty Much Sums Up The Coronavirus Situation
Listen, I get that there is a massive difference between this clip from a very fictional movie and the COVID-19 pandemic going on in the real world.
The one thing that does stay constant in the fake movie world and the real movie world are shitty people. People who are going down to the store and buying out the entire store's supply of toilet paper when they, quite frankly, don't need to do that in the slightest bit. All that does is cause panic, force people to "eat each other" as the Joker says. I get how it can be a little odd using a supervillain who is constantly trying to destroy an entire city of people as some psuedo-expert on human tendencies in the middle of a global pandemic. I just thought it was a somewhat decent representation of whats going on.
COVID-19 is very real, it's shutting down entire cities, entire states, even countries. But that doesn't mean you have to empty out the grocery store, other people have to eat too. I think a lot of that is lost in all of this, everybody is too worried about themselves. We just all need to remain calm and keep living life as normally as possible. Sure, it wouldn't hurt to make sure you have a few things prepped for the long haul, just in case. But we don't need to panic buy everything. Once one person starts panic buying ten packs of toilet paper, then so will the next and so on and so forth.
It's important to remember that not everyone is gonna go down to the grocery store and get into fisticuffs over a couple of rolls of 2ply toilet paper instead of just waiting a day for the store to restock the shelves. Some people have stayed cool, calm, and collected in these trying times which is a very hard feat to accomplish. Who knows, maybe I'm just too stupid to have a grasp on *reality* but this doesn't seem that difficult. You just have to be a decent human being.
Maybe then, we won't have people making a video comparing our world to a fictional city that is being overrun by literal super freaks. Just a thought. Stay safe out there friends.
sidenote - The Dark Knight is currently on Netflix and I have already watched it twice since I've been home. I have to go for the hattrick today after writing this blog. I can't just talk about that movie then not watch it, that's not how that works.
